These guides consist of round bars of tempered steel, tempered and chrome-plated steel, chrome-plated and ground steel and stainless steel. Units run on them by means of ball bearing sleeves, self-lubricating bushes with antifriction insert made of sintered or plastic material. Hollow shafts are also available, through which cables, piping and fluids can be fed.
The shafts can be built onto the machine structure using light alloy supports (seamless or in sections) – end supports (in which they are flexibly fixed by screws), or the support can be built on parts of the machine to which they are secured. They are fixed on seamless supports by screws in the threaded bolt holes created in the shaft itself.
