These guides consist of a hardened and meticulously machined steel tracks with raceways; the carriage or linear unit that runs on the guideway has internal ball bearings. The linear mobile unit may be flanged with through bolt holes or narrow with blind threaded bolt holes to screw it to the mobile part of the system.
The track may have smooth through bolt holes (for fixing from the top) or blind threaded bolt holes (for fixing from the bottom), so that it can be bolted to the fixed structure. If the tracks have to be cut to size and in a number of sections, they are made with joins at the ends, which are appropriately tested at the workshop to guarantee running continuity and exact centre-line distances of the bolt holes, even near the joins. The linear mobile units are available in an extensive array of versions and, for the same size, they are available in different shapes (see above), lengths (normal, short, long) and heights (standard or low). The linear mobile unit may have supplementary integrated seals; in addition to the single front seal, they may be equipped with a double or reinforced lateral, upper and lower seal. The track, in addition to the normal sealing plugs for the bolt holes, can also be equipped with an upper strip to protect it along the whole length.
The profiled guideways guarantee fluent running motion with minimal friction and medium to medium-high stiffness. Its carrying capacity depends on the size, but also on the conformation of the guideway, which may have 2-4-6 rows. Stiffness and precision depend on the type of configuration, combined with a certain pre-load class, and on the precision class to which they belong respectively; they also obviously depend on the type of structure on which the track and linear profiled unit are mounted. Their versatility and multiple variants and versions mean they can be profitably used in an extensive field of applications, among which: automation, robotics, packaging, movement, handling, manipulation and processing of all kinds of materials.
