Housing units

Housing units

The housing unit consists of an internal bearing insert and of a housing in which it is supplied pre-assembled. The housing is normally flanged and may be made of cast iron, light alloy, cast sheet metal or plastic material. The flange, with bolt holes, is used to mount the unit on side panels or shelves, thus making it easier to install on overhangs or suspended assemblies.

The spherical surface inside the housing and outside the bearing allows for a certain degree of misalignment between the axis and the supporting surface, which is often inevitable, especially when the centre-line distances are broad or for structural constructions with large tolerances.
